Technologically Advanced Veranda Resort & Residences all set to Open in the Turks & Caicos Islands
July 2009The Veranda Resort and Residences featuring 123 luxury villas fronting Grace Bay Beach, Turks & Caicos Islands, will open for business in January 2010 with an integrated communications network supporting the telephone, WiFi, CCTV and data systems.
Based on concepts developed jointly by the developer Faez Ltd. and DXI the converged IP network infrastructure will provide the resort operator the utmost flexibility whilst simplifying support mechanisms.
Installation of the infrastructure is being fulfilled by a locally based network integrator whilst a state of the art software based IP telephone system is to be deployed by DXI. The Freedom PBX solution from Docomo interTouch is designed specifically for the hospitality sector to deliver significant benefits. Key is the operational cost savings that will be accrued through access to low cost international telephony. The ease with which operational staff will be able to quickly accomplish telephone relocations and replacement without normally expensive system reconfiguration is another major benefit.
As a truly open architecture the appropriately named Freedom system provides just that, giving the resort operator a wide choice of manufacturer handsets and is positioned to take advantage of industry innovations as they evolve. Multi-lingual wake-up calls, room status, PMS integration, voicemail and housekeeping functions are just some of the popular features available.
Project Manager for Faez, Tim Hall, has keenly pursued such flexibility and investment protection although has faced several challenges;
“Having purchased the partially completed resort from a previous developer we have had to adopt technology to fit available cable pathways and equipment spaces” explained Hall “but with opening a brand new resort in 2010 the deployment of legacy technology just didn’t make sense.”
Applauding the tenacity of Hall and his appointed contractors DXI’s Managing Consultant, Mike Savereux, added that;
“This project is a clear illustration that even if not designed with modern technology in mind a resort or hotel can be adapted mid construction to give the investor and operator access to the significant benefits of converged IP technology. In fact many of those benefits can even be attained in completed resorts with a little innovation and ingenuity, but for maximum cost-efficiency DXI prefers to be involved even before the developer breaks ground.”
In an increasingly competitive hospitality market delivering operational cost savings, improved revenue generating opportunities and enhanced guest experience is crucial. DXI help developers, investors and operators understand how to apply technology effectively to achieve these goals.
