Engaging an independent project manager delivers many benefits.  He/she is able to focus on the matter in hand and does not become sidetracked by in-house issues.  However, he/she will always represent your interests to make sure the selected external parties involved in making the project a success are driven firmly but in a fair and professional manner to deliver on time and on budget.  The project manager will take control of the deployment on your behalf, arbitrating on the inevitable disputes between suppliers that can otherwise lead to delays and unnecessary additional cost.
